    The primary role of this position is to provide analytical resource for the development, validation, implementation and trouble-shooting of analytical methods and the collection of data to set specifications applicable to new or existing drug products.  As a member of Pharmaceutical Technical Services functional team, design and execute, or direct others to execute, development or trouble-shooting experiments after consultation with more senior members of the function. 


    • Participate as a functional member on cross-functional technical teams (development and/or investigational).
    • Under the guidance of more senior chemists in the Pharmaceutical Technical Services group, develop methods based on sound principles of chemistry and physics to achieve specific analytical goals.
    • Using a working knowledge of Quality and Regulatory expectations, develop protocols for both simple and complex experiments with a focus on method validation protocols.
    • Accurately execute experiments, including approved protocols, or guide others to execute as directed. 
    • Record and store data in accordance with SOPs. 
    • Critically assess data and suggest additional refinements where needed.
    • Document experimental findings in memos and reports including calculations and statistical assessments and store in accordance with SOPs.
    • Provide record checking for others. 
    • Maintain safe, clean and adequately stocked workplace.  
    • As time allows, work to develop unique area of expertise within the functional area.


    • BS degree with 5+ years of experience or Masters degree with 2+ years of experience or PhD in Chemistry (pref.), or other physical or biological science discipline will be considered. 
    • Must demonstrate solid knowledge of the application of common analytical techniques. A working understanding of experimental design and the basics of statistical evaluation is expected.
    • Highly desired: Previous laboratory experience involving analytical method development using HPLC for cGMP use (e.g., pharmaceutical method analysis, quality control testing or bioanalytical method development - including development of methods, validation and/or transfer) 
    • Desired: Forensic investigations, familiarity with manufacturing processes, statistical inference, physical testing methods (e.g., dissolution, rheology, or particle size). Familiarity with cGMP, GLP, FDA, ICH guidance.
