    Job Description:  Director of Payer Marketing, GI/Pain BU


    The Director of Payer Marketing within Market Access will lead the marketing efforts associated with the GI/Pain Business Unit as it relates to marketing to market access customer segments. They will be responsible for developing the Market Access plan for key channels (commercial insurance plans, PBMs, Medicaid, Medicare) including pull through strategies and tactics. They will lead, design, develop, & ensure implementation of Payer Value Proposition development.  This includes customer insight generation that may lead to innovative customer channel solutions.


    • Lead Development of US Market Access Value Proposition for GI/Pain Business Unit and program execution. This will require close coordination with the GI/Pain VP of Marketing and their team.
    • Develop GI/Pain portfolio payer value propositions and facilitate training and implementation by the Market Access Account team.
    • Lead the development and implementation of specific field sales pull through initiatives and enhancing market access proficiency and understanding within the Field Sales teams.
    • Work closely with Strategic Pricing lead on the development of overall contracting strategies.
    • Work closely with Brand and Advanced Analytics team to identify appropriate analyses for GI/Pain brands and actions based on data and insights
    • Enable coordination and planning between Medical Affairs/MSLs and Commercial/Account Management teams
    • Work with Business Development on any GI/Pain related acquisition or divestiture projects
    • Work collaboratively with Account Management, Strategic Pricing, Advanced Analytics, Sales Training, Field Sales, Medical Affairs, Legal, Operations, and Brand Teams on development & implementation of strategies and tactics


    • Bachelor’s degree required.  Masters degree preferred.
    • Fluent English language required



    • 10 + years biopharmaceutical commercial operations experience
    • At least 3 years experience in managed markets within payer marketing required.  Previous National account management, patient reimbursement services, or contract operations strongly preferred
    • Previous experience in designing pull-though strategy & resources for brands with Payer utilization management criteria such as Prior Authorizations/Step Edits
    • Strong understanding of payer market dynamics and how managed care organizations make decisions across private & public channels.
    • Must have superior analytical ability to analyze current and future landscape and specific contracts to make recommendations that impact our brands. 
    • Ability to translate strategies into measurable tactical programs that have high ROI for our brands
    • Ability to access and influence various functional areas and motivate groups to action without direct line management responsibility.
    • Ability to work and lead collaboratively in cross - functional teams across the managed markets organization, brand teams, finance, legal & regulatory.
    • Ability to identify leading trends, channel dynamics and translate to impactful access programs for our brands.
    • High level of integrity developing compliant strategies and works transparently with legal, regulatory and compliance.
    • Identifies problems and barriers and can quickly assimilate information to develop actionable and effective solutions.
    • Must be willing to build and execute tactics
