The Engineering Manager is responsible for Manufacturing Engineering, product and technical support including: continuous improvement, automation development and implementation, support for increasing product quality, equipment productivity, utilization and uptime, technical guidance for new product and process transfers, regulatory compliance for medical devices and other departmental and organization endeavors as may be identified by the Director of Operations.
Responsible for accomplishing the stated project objectives, providing project management support, including planning, executing and closing of projects; creating clear and attainable project objectives, building constraints, including cost, time and quality of a project
Provides leadership to Engineering team to achieve successful project outcomes, which supports production, QA, and Materials group; ensuring equipment and processes are capable and available for achieving Plant and Production initiatives.
Establish a vision and environment that stimulates creative thinking and solutions to produce or improve products, processes and services.
Provide resources and leadership to ensure successful technology transfer and validation of products and processes to ensure process, product and package conform to B&L requirements and all global regulations for product and process.
Identify, champion and lead the cost improvement, automations strategy for Clearwater IOL and related products.
Prepares capital equipment plan to ensure technical support for Clearwater (Production, Facilities, IT, QA and Engineering) equipment is available.
Responsible for yearly Engineering, Facilities and Technical Support budget in accordance with corporate guidelines and monitors activity. Deviations from budget are to the attention of the VP of Operations.
Ongoing review of the effectiveness of risk management activities ensuring that policies, procedures and practices are established and documented for analyzing, evaluating and controlling product risk throughout product realization.
Scope of Position:
The Sr. Engineer Manager has responsibility for budget, supervision, development of Engineering, Maintenance and Facilities teams and for facilitating site improvement projects in the Clearwater facility.
Resource Conservation Recovery Act (RCRA)
BS Engineering degree with advance degree desired
Leadership in problem solving
Black Belt in Six Sigma Lean Manufacturing a plus.
7+ years with 3-5 years supervisor/manager experience preferred. Manufacturing operations experience in a mid-large volume industry. cGMP & medical device experience preferred.
