Dendreon is seeking a dedicated individual with strong analytical and problem-solving skills to join its high-performance translational biology team. The candidate will work with a team of multi-talented scientific personnel to reveal immunological characteristics of first-in-class cancer immunotherapy. A successful candidate will be expected to formulate a basic plan to develop and implement immunological assays to address scientific hypotheses related to mechanisms of action and biomarker studies of Provenge.


Key components and projects of this position include:


  • Performing, documenting and analyzing experiments to understand the mechanisms of action of Provenge and/or biomarker studies of Provenge
  • Working with human PBMC and maintaining mammalian cell cultures
  • Performing basic immunological-based techniques including ELISA, multi-color flow cytometry, functional T cell assays(ELISPOT and cell proliferation) and molecular based assays including qPCR and next-generation sequencing
  • Developing new assays by performing and documenting experiments, organizing data, analyzing results and preparing technical reports
  • Demonstrating an ability to establish operational comfort with existing protocols and independently interpret and contextualize experimental results
  • Developing an in-depth knowledge of work material by maintaining laboratory notebooks and computer files/databases, and presenting in group meetings
  • Contributes to both internal and external technical transfer efforts.
  • Interfaces with various departments and serves as internal consultant depending upon needs at the time.
  • Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of complex scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions, products and problems.
  • Maintains high level of professional expertise through familiarity with scientific literature.
  • Prepares technical documents such as technical reports, SOPs and other relevant documents.
  • Trains and mentors other department personnel in specific procedures and analytical techniques.



  • Uses professional concepts and company policies and procedures to solve a wide range of difficult problems in imaginative and practical ways.
  • Demonstrated success in technical proficiency, scientific creativity, collaboration with others and independent thought. Works on problems of diverse scope in which analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors. Exercises judgment within generally defined practices and policies in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
  • Normally receives no instructions on routine work, general instructions on new assignments.


  • MS with 6+ years or PhD with 0-3 years postdoctoral experience in Immunology, or equivalent biological discipline
  • Experience in multi-color flow cytometry and flow data analyses
  • Required: Experience with cell culture and a strong knowledge of specific immunological techniques such as ELISPOT, tritiated-thymidine based cell proliferation, multi-color flow cytometry and cell sorting.
  • Desired: A strong immunology background and experience with molecular procedures such as RNA/DNA isolation, qPCR and microarray analysis.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications and data analyses/plotting packages such as OriginPro or Prism.
  • Candidates should be well organized, detail oriented and adaptable. It is important to be up-to-date with contemporary software analyses packages, and the associate must have impressive interpersonal and communication skills to work well in a team environment.



Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

  • Some light lifting may be required.
  • Ability to safely handle potentially hazardous materials.
