Manage the daily and long-term objectives of the Packaging production areas. Provide direction/guidance for manufacturing projects. Assure operations are in compliance with all Safety, GMPs, SOPs and FDA guidelines. Assist and develop department supervisors, team leaders and leads in the management of department personnel and floor operations. Assure all non-conformance investigations are thorough and accurately assess the situation as well as provide sound corrective actions. Manage and track critical department metrics including spending, line performance, safety, and manufacturing quality metrics. Be a leader to assure line performance shows continuous improvement.
Manage department supervisors in a 24 hour a day, 7 days a week, operation.
Set expectations for and hold employees accountable to goals/metrics in the areas of Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and employee development. Insure effective actions are taken to address negative trends.
Institute departmental training, discipline, motivational and mentoring practices, in order to accomplish goals within GMP/OSHA/SOP and FDA guidelines.
Maintain high standards for quality and compliance in all operations.
Champion projects to reduce scrap, improve efficiency, and improve product quality.
Establish a strong sense of cooperation and teamwork with peers in all support functions.
Proactively manage labor to maximize operational flexibility and achieve excellent customer service results while minimizing cost.
Manage the daily and long term objectives of the Packaging, Accessories, and Form Fill Seal production areas. Roughly 3 exempt and 100 non-exempt employees working in a 24/7 manufacturing plant.
Set and manage annual departmental budgets for labor and spend.
Assist and develop team in the management of department personnel and packaging operations.
Manage and track critical department metrics including spending, line performance, safety, and manufacturing quality metrics.
Be a leader to assure line performance shows continuous improvement.
Works closely with all other manufacturing departments within the facility. (Filling, compounding, sterilization, warehouse)
Must have positive working relationship with planning/scheduling group as well as the quality organization.
Relies heavily on maintenance and engineering team to accomplish departmental improvements and meet goals.
Understanding of Lean concepts and demonstrated experience in their utilization.
APICS CPIM Certification is a plus
Education: BS or BA Degree required. BS in Operations/Supply Chain/Industrial or Mfg. engineering preferred.
Experience: 7+ years leadership experience required. Minimum 3 years In management of exempt employees. Automated Packaging experience preferred. GMP industry experience is a plus.
Special Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required. Excellent problem solving skills required.
