To provide strategic leadership direction to the Orapharma Sales organization and develop selling strategies that will enable this organization to drive revenue and earnings.  The Regional Sales Director will have be responsibility for the direct oversight of Regional Managers and approximately half of the sales force.   


The Regional Sales Director is responsible for the implementation of sales and marketing activity within the U.S.; including hiring, training and development, evaluation, compensation, account targeting and coverage, and effective deployment of both human and financial resources.  The Director needs to have a sound business understanding to be able to develop action plans, effectively use operating budgets, analyze region business trends to identify opportunities and challenges in the marketplace and to make decisions that will support the overall sales and profit objectives.


The Regional Sales Director will play a key role in the development, implementation and execution of national strategies in conjunction with marketing. Effective collaboration with cross functional teams is essential.





  • Provides analysis, insight and direction on company priorities and goals to attain script targets.  Candidate needs strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel   
  • Ensures sales forecast and operational budgets are achieved
  • Develops strategies and to provide optimal financial return
  • Responsible for presenting at National Sales Meetings and Regional sales meetings
  • Provides leadership in development of selling strategies 
  • Builds a network of customer and industry contacts to facilitate sales development and successes
  • Attends major conferences to ensure sales goals are being met and customer experience is maximized
  • Maintains current knowledge of market and competitive trends.
  • Co-travels with Business Managers and Territory Representatives to remain knowledgeable on customer needs.
  • Additional responsibilities to include participating in cross-functional teams to provide ideas and insights on new strategies, market trends and data analysis, and proactively working with Sales training team to ensure all adequate training programs are coordinated to deliver annual sales plan strategies.
  • Creates a high performing organization through facilitation of performance management process, coaching and mentoring
  • Ensures compliance with policies and procedures
  • Recruits qualified talent and develops high potential employees



  • BA/BS in Business or Marketing required along with 10+ years sales experience with at least 3-5 years prior sales management experience.
  • MBA, advanced degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of the dental market is preferred.
  • Proven ability to plan, forecast, and manage financial information required.
  • Demonstrated abilities for problem solving, creativity, working as a key member of a management team, and motivating/guiding employees to meet division objectives.
  • Extensive travel required. Will be responsible for large geography. Would consist of working with sales employees, attending business meetings, industry meetings or working with key customers.
  • PC skills required (Microsoft tools).
  • Effectively present information, respond to questions from customers and sales representatives.
  • Effectively deliver executive level presentations to senior management and customers
  • Driving, Valid driver's license to travel to customer locations/or other method of transportation to perform duties (i.e. co-travels, account calls)
